About the Sri Lanka Design Festival
The Sri Lanka Design Festival (SLDF) was conceptualized by the Academy of Design (AOD) in 2009 to fulfill the need for a platform with global reach to support and strengthen the growing design initiatives and activity in Sri Lanka.
The festival highlights the innovation and trends in Sri Lanka’s multi-billion dollar fashion manufacturing industry, contemporary craft design, and interior design sectors.
The SLDF focuses on delivering commercial links and international exposure for these sectors by annually hosting a range of events to deliver a unique celebration of design.
The SLDF has become one of South Asia’s most business-friendly and commercially successful global platforms for design and related industries. Since its inception in 2009, SLDF has successfully delivered new international business partnerships and design-led growth opportunities for the Sri Lankan fashion and apparel industry. Similarly, SLDF has been a game-changer in realigning traditional craft industries as a successful supplier for the hospitality trade, through design intervention.
SLDF is now ready to deliver the same commercial success for Sri Lankan interior design and elevate it to a global stage parallel to fashion and contemporary craft.
